  18. of Kermit for Windows 95.  This information also appears on our Web
  19. page, which is updated frequently.  Check the Web page for information

  26. PRELIMINARY KERMIT 95 ACADEMIC SITE LICENSE INFORMATION
  27.  
  28. Kermit 95 academic site licenses are available at the rates listed below.
  29. An academic site license entitles all students, faculty, and staff at a
  30. licensed institution to individual, non-transferable use of Kermit 95 at
  31. school and at home, with no copy counting required, as long as they are
  32. students at or employed by the institution.  The site license must be
  33. administered from a single administrative point of contact within the
  34. institution.  Technical support must be provided by the institution, which
  35. provides a single technical point of contact with the development and
  36. support team at Columbia University.

  38. For any single college or university:
  39.  
  40.   First year:       $  2,000
  41.   Subsequent years: $  1,000
  42.  
  43. For a large (e.g. statewide) university system:
  44.  
  45.   First year:       $ 10,000
  46.   Subsequent years: $  5,000
  47.  
  48. An active license entitles the institution to continuing technical support
  49. and to software upgrades.
  50.  
  51. The year is counted as July 1 through June 30; however, the entire
  52. first-year fee must be paid for 1995-96.
  53.  
  54. An academic site license includes a single copy of the shrink-wrapped
  55. software package, to be registered, duplicated, and distributed by the
  56. institution, plus 100 user manuals and 5 technical reference manuals, with
  57. additional manuals available in bulk at a discount.  Manuals may be resold
  58. through institutional channels such as book stores or otherwise
  59. distributed internally.

  61. Outside of the USA, Canada, and Mexico, shipping costs must be added for
  62. the manual set.
  63.  
  64. The institution must assume responsibility of preventing all manner of
  65. external access to the software, including, but not limited to, placing of
  66. the software on file servers, ftp servers, or Web home pages accessible
  67. from outside the institution.
